"Hinako Sugiyama solo exhibition "Mirror Play" will be held at PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO" on the 4th floor of Shibuya PARCO.

Hyugako Sugiyama is an up-and-coming artist who draws impressive portraits with dynamic and sensational screen configurations and considers narcissism.

This exhibition will be the largest solo exhibition ever, exhibiting about 20 works, mainly new paintings, and will give you a sense of the current location of "Hyuko Sugiyama". Some of the new works will be exhibited and sold at the venue. In addition, silkscreen edition works will be released to commemorate this exhibition. Statement

Hyugako Sugiyama, an up-and-coming artist who considers narcissism in the process of drawing his own portraits. This exhibition "Mirror Play" will be the largest solo exhibition ever, featuring more than 20 new paintings.

In addition to expressing the exploration of appearance and self-recognition lightly using the technique of painting, you will be able to feel the inner side of the artist who confronts himself and the strong burning energy.

I started drawing my self-portrait because of my opposition to being slandered by others about my appearance.

At first, in order to protect myself, I drew in a form that denies the evaluation of others, but now that Luckyism has become a problem on SNS and media, I feel it is important to accept myself in any form superficial way.
It's free to ask for expectations for appearance and appearance, but for the time being, I think it's the key to accepting myself now.
I want to throw myself sharp and strong. I don't know what will happen, but I expect myself in the future and myself now, and leave it to myself. You are the only one you can believe, as if you hear the noise, shout loudly and scrape out the complex.

Graduated from Joshibi University of Art and Design in 2016
Graduated from the Department of Painting, Department of Painting, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2022.
