PARCO DESIGN MUSEUM
Preservation Exhibition
We will hold a hands-on exhibition "PARCO DESIGN MUSEUM" to learn while enjoying design more closely. This exhibition, produced by Ash Pe France BATOMA (Hatoma), which focuses on interior and design, features seasonal design themes, as well as exhibitions specializing in themes, as well as hands-on content such as workshops. We aim to create opportunities for people to enjoy design and art, and to make the city of Ikebukuro a "fun" culture source for both adults and children.
The design theme this time is "Preservation." Preservation of things by collectors, preservation of ingredients, preservation of artworks by artists. In a nutshell, there are various meanings. In this exhibition, we will introduce a wide variety of ways to preserve "preservation", which was essential to the development of humankind, with "food", design and art as a starting point.
“Fermented Foods,” a preserved food developed by wisdom from ancient times, various things collected from a collector's own perspective, and works that sublimate the technology for preservation into art are lined up at the venue by SUPPOSE DESIGN OFFICE Yoshida Ai. During the exhibition, various events such as workshops and seminars will be held, as well as a unique museum shop featuring products collected under the theme of "preservation".
Please revisit the concept of "preservation" from various angles and enjoy the exhibition where you can experience the importance of this exhibition.

Overview of the exhibition
New World Transparent Specimens/Iori Tomita ©
In this exhibition, we will introduce how "preservation" should be in three areas: art, collection, and food.
In "Art", beautiful and mysterious "transparent specimens" that sublimates academic specimens into art are displayed, and in the "collection", four collectors are biased "Mack", "used furniture", "samples" and "sake bottles" are displayed together with the thoughts of each collector. In "Food", we will introduce various ways of preserving food from the perspective of "preservation" of food, which was indispensable to the development of humankind, from "preservation of ethnic minorities" and "fermentation".
By arranging products from familiar products to art works in a designed space, they show a different look than usual and give viewers an opportunity to think about design.
During the exhibition, participatory events will be held, such as workshops where you can experience the exhibits, such as viewing the collected specimens with a microscope, and seminars by Takako Yokoyama, the representative director of the Japan Fermentation and Culture Association. Details will be announced on this website as soon as they are decided.
