The movie "The Mystery of Kitaro Birth Gegege", which was released in November 2023 as a work commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of manga artist Shigeru Mizuki, has a huge hit with a box office income of 2.78 billion yen and an audience mobilization of 1.947 million. He received high praise, including receiving the Excellent Animation Work Award at the 47th Japan Academy Award.

<Overview of Works>

The national anime "Gegege no Kitaro" has been loved for 55 years and has no longer become a culture. Kitaro and his friends, from children to adults, were frightened by monsters and strange phenomena, but wished to be friends at least once. This work, which will be the 100th anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki's birth in 2023, is the first story of Kitaro's fathers, the encounter between the former centerpiece father and Mizuki, and the fate of the two fathers.

 The director says, "Theatrical version of Gegege no Kitaro Japan Explosion! Go Koga, who directed the script, Hiroyuki Yoshino, who is known for the TV anime "Macros F", etc., and Toruko Yatabe, who served as deputy director of "Shin Evangelion Theater Version" for character design. The cast team, in addition to Miyuki Sawashiro who played Kitaro in the TV anime "Gegege no Kitaro" (6th term), Masako Nozawa who played the centerpiece father, Toshio Furukawa as a mysterious boy similar to that familiar character, In addition to Toshio Furukawa, the former centerpiece father was played by Toshihiko Tsuji, the Japanese sword of demon destruction. Mizuki is played by Hidenobu Kiuchi, the role of Yuji Oshinashi in the "Prince of Tennis" series.
