[Statement]
Mickey Mouse embodies Walt Disney's philosophy of "InnoVATION", "Creative = CREATIVITY", "Imagination = IMAGINATION", and "Story = STORYTELLING" and has inspired people around the world as a global ambassador for Walt Disney Company. The name was widely known in 1928, a toky movie " Steamboat Willie" (Steamboat Willie), where Walt himself acted as a voice actor.
Keiichi Tanaami, who is also exhibiting at this exhibition, talks about his memories of seeing this work during his childhood after the war. "When I was a child, I watched Walt Disney's animation "The Steamship Willy" at a small movie theater near Meguro Station. Until then, I had only seen still-image comics, so I was surprised at the light moving around Mickey Mouse, and drew Mickey in my notebook under the light of the emergency exit. After returning home, I put a mickey colored along the line drawing into the room, and I was intoxicated with the satisfaction I wanted to start dancing."
In addition, Fantasia (1940), featuring Mickey Mouse as the leading role, has always attracted people since its release as the best video work in the 20th century, which combines the splendid melodies of classical music with dazzling colors, and dynamic and delicate Yumi motions.
Javier Calljaha (Javier Callja) from Maraga from Spain, Yuen Hyup (Yon Hyup) from New York from Korea, James Jarvis (Jamem Jarvis) from U.K. from London, Tetsuya Dar Nakamura from Nagano Prefecture, and Pay Oliver Inn from Los Angeles from U.K., respectively.
In conjunction with this exhibition, a large-scale three-dimensional work of Mickey Mouse, produced by Habia Kajha and Hajime Sorayama, will be exhibited as a public art on the premises of Shibuya PARCO. We hope that you will be able to enjoy this exhibition.
[Curator Comment]
This exhibition is a special exhibition that reminds us of the future of Mickey Mouse, the most famous character in the world. Why does Mickey Mouse continue to be loved by people all over the world? Its rich expression, cute gestures, and sometimes mischievous, and not limited to setting as a friend who is kinder than anyone else, has a deep relationship with the magic of Walt, the creator. "We must never forget." All the beginnings were a rat. (*) is a famous word left by Walt Disney. For the great creator who continued to believe in the importance and power of imagination and created the "land of dreams" Disney Land, Mickey Mouse is the only symbol of his thought and the dream of living forever.
