We will hold a new solo exhibition "PAPER PEOPLE" by French artist Jean Julian.
This exhibition will be curated by NANZUKA, a contemporary art gallery in Shibuya, and a pop-up project "POCKET PARENTS" will be held at the same time at NANZUKA 2G on the 2nd floor of Shibuya Parco.
In addition, in conjunction with PARCO ART WEEK, Julian will also be in charge of the key visuals for this project.

This exhibition will be equipped with an online exhibition where you can view the venue in 3D view.
You can also enjoy the appreciation experience as if you were at home, such as moving around the venue and looking around 360 degrees.

Contents of the exhibition

This exhibition "PAPER PEOPLE" is an installation-style exhibition that shows the appearance of Perapera paper-shaped artists performing creative activities. Julian, who has a deep knowledge of Japanese manga culture, brings his comical and humorous sensibility as the trunk of this exhibition, but also creates a beautiful scene that reminds us of the splendor of everyday life. The beautiful sea in his hometown of Brittany, wheat fields swaying in the wind, creatures such as fish and animals, casual beautiful scenery seen from the garden, and children's toys. From each of these works drawn by Julian, you can read a truly fresh story.

All of these works by Julian have been born over the past year of the pandemic.
The free and elegant idea that grabs our hearts in an instant and keeps them apart seems to strongly convey the splendor of human cultural activities.

In this exhibition, about 50 paintings of various sizes will be exhibited together. In addition, paper people, which have become the incarnation of the artist himself, will appear and welcome you.

Artist profile

Jean Jullien｜ Jean Julian

Jean Julian was born in France in 1983, graduated from Central Saint Martins in London in 2008, and earned a master's degree at the Royal College of Art in 2010. As an illustrator, he has been active in producing paintings for various clients such as New York Times, National Geographic, RCA Records, Le Centre Pompidou, Hermès, Petit Bateau, Vogue, and so far, and has exhibited in San Francisco, London, Berlin and Singapore.
