The "NEW WAVES" series, which continues to be published in exhibitions and magazines, is the first book! It will be published by Parco Publishing.
In commemoration of the publication, an exhibition will be held at two galleries in Tokyo during the same period.
He received the Ihee Kimura Photography Award in 1999 for his work "Tokyo Suburb", which reflects the times, and attracted attention as a symbol of a new generation in the Japanese photography world. Please take a look at the new world of photography expression by photographer Takashi Honma, who has always been strictly pursuing expression.
※Simultaneously held: Gallery 360° http://www.360.co.jp

Wave of North Shore, Hawaii. The complex interfering motion is constantly moving towards the camera with huge energy. It is not in the same state for an instant, and the state that is happening in that part is stopped by colliding with each other, and the state that occurs in that part is frequent at the same moment without stopping the movement of the wave.
“Everything is different, but the same thing”—Takashi Honma shoots such a subject for eight years since 2000, and continues to shoot in the future. It is also a project that minimizes the selection of the subject as much as possible, and was simply photographing the ever-changing environment (wave) heading toward me without intention of capturing the decisive moments such as Bresson. Photographer Takashi Honma, who often says in interviews, "Photo is an expression of how we perceive the world." The purpose of recording is not a pictorial photographic expression based on the beauty of a single piece, but the relationship between the world represented by the entire group of photographs and the photographer, the subject and the photographer.
In addition, the theme of "environment" that has been photographed since the 1990s to the present is a common viewpoint that is carried out in series such as "Architecture and Environment", "City and Environment", and "City and Garden". According to ecological psychologist Masato Sasaki, "Isn't it the essence of art to be surrounded by the whole and the details at once, as if you were walking?" (From Masato Sasaki's "Art/Expressing Body" published by the University of Tokyo Publishing), when we head to Takashi Honma's work, we are stimulated with strong expressive power and surrounded by the details created by the whole wave and the waves. In other words, it can be said that the wave itself is a metaphor for "environment".
"New Waves" is "What is a photo?" It is also a record that photographers who are constantly seeking to respond continue to challenge new photographic expressions.
